How to cancel Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft’s help: for Game Pass billed to your Microsoft account, sign in at account.microsoft.com, open Services & subscriptions, select Xbox Game Pass (Core, Standard, Ultimate, or the SKU on your statement), then Cancel and confirm. You can also manage subscriptions from the Xbox console under Microsoft Store / Subscriptions while signed into the same Microsoft account. Save the confirmation. If Apple or Google Play bills Game Pass (or a related Xbox app subscription), cancel in that store—Microsoft account pages will not stop those charges. Cancelling Game Pass does not cancel separate Xbox hardware financing, Microsoft 365, or other Microsoft subscriptions.

Difficulty: Online — Microsoft account or the store that bills you. Policies change. This is the path that usually works, not a substitute for your contract or the merchant’s current account screens.

  1. 01Microsoft-billed: account.microsoft.com → Services & subscriptions → Xbox Game Pass → Cancel. Confirm and save the confirmation.

Fees and traps

  • Core vs Standard vs Ultimate (and regional names) are different SKUs—cancel the one on your statement.
  • Wrong Microsoft account hides the subscription—use the account that purchased Game Pass.
  • Access usually continues until the end of the paid period. Check the confirmation screen—do not invent fees.
  • Redeemed codes / prepaid time still follow Microsoft’s remaining-time rules after you turn off recurring billing.
