How to cancel Spotify

Spotify’s account help: open Manage plan at spotify.com/account (or Account → Manage your plan). If Spotify bills you directly, choose Cancel subscription and confirm on the screens that follow. Save the confirmation. If Payment shows Apple, Google Play, or a mobile carrier, Spotify cannot stop that charge—cancel in that store or with the carrier. Deleting the app does not cancel. After cancel you can keep using free Spotify; playlists and saved music stay on the free plan. A PDF cancellation form exists as a fallback when the web cancel path is unavailable. For Family or Duo, the plan manager cancels for the whole plan.

Difficulty: Online — website or store that bills you. Policies change. This is the path that usually works, not a substitute for your contract or the merchant’s current account screens.

What does not work

  • The Spotify mobile or desktop app (no complete cancel there for site-billed plans)
  • Deleting the app
  • Cancelling on spotify.com when Apple, Google, or a carrier is the merchant on your statement
  • A Family or Duo member who is not the plan manager cancelling for everyone

Online

  1. 01In a browser go to spotify.com/account and open Manage plan (or Account → Manage your plan).
  2. 02Check Payment / billing: Spotify vs Apple vs Google vs carrier.
  3. 03If Spotify bills you: select Cancel subscription and finish every confirmation screen. Save the email or screenshot.
  4. 04If Apple bills you: iPhone/iPad Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Spotify → Cancel Subscription (or account.apple.com).
  5. 05If Google Play bills you: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Spotify → Cancel.
  6. 06If a carrier bills you: cancel the Spotify add-on in that carrier’s account tools.
  7. 07Family / Duo: only the plan manager can cancel the shared plan.

By mail

  1. 01If the web cancel path is unavailable, Spotify provides a PDF cancellation form as a fallback. Use the official form from Spotify support, fill it out completely, and follow their submission instructions. Keep a copy and any confirmation they send.

Fees and traps

  • Access usually continues until the end of the period already paid. Check the confirmation screen for the last billing date—do not invent a fee or refund promise.
  • Playlists and library stay available on free Spotify after paid access ends.
  • Prepaid or gift-card balance can keep Premium running until that balance is used up.
  • Pause or plan changes (where offered) are not the same as cancel.
