How to cancel Slack

Slack’s help: paid workspace plans are cancelled by a Workspace Owner (or billing admin) in the Slack desktop/web app: workspace name → Settings & administration → Workspace settings → Billing → Cancel plan (wording can vary by plan). Confirm and save the confirmation. Enterprise Grid and org-level billing are cancelled by an Org Owner in org-level billing—not by a single channel member. Leaving a workspace or deleting the Slack app does not cancel the workspace subscription. If a statement shows Apple or Google for a Slack-related purchase, cancel in that store. Free workspaces have no paid plan to cancel.

Difficulty: Online — Workspace Owner or admin. Policies change. This is the path that usually works, not a substitute for your contract or the merchant’s current account screens.

What does not work

  • Deleting the Slack app
  • Leaving a workspace and assuming the company’s plan is cancelled
  • A regular member cancelling Pro/Business+ without Owner/admin billing access
  • Cancelling inside Slack when Apple or Google is the merchant on your statement

Online

  1. 01Paid workspace (Slack-billed): sign in on desktop/web as a Workspace Owner → workspace name → Settings & administration → Workspace settings → Billing → Cancel plan. Confirm and save the confirmation.
  2. 02Enterprise Grid / org billing: an Org Owner cancels in organization-level billing settings.
  3. 03Apple billed: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Slack → Cancel Subscription.
  4. 04Google Play billed: Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Slack → Cancel.

Fees and traps

  • Workspace admin vs personal: most Slack charges are workspace invoices; only Owners/admins can cancel those.
  • Access to paid features usually continues until the end of the paid period, then the workspace moves to free limits.
  • Active billing addresses and invoices stay with the workspace—export what you need before you lose Owner access.
  • Wrong workspace selected in the switcher hides the Billing page for the plan you meant to cancel.
