How to cancel Netflix

Netflix’s help: you can cancel anytime. Go to Manage your membership (sign in if needed), tap Cancel, then Finish Cancellation. You get a confirmation email. Signing out or deleting the app does not cancel. If Cancel is missing, the Membership section will point you at the payment partner. You keep watching until the end of the paid period. Netflix does not generally prorate. Pause is a different product (not on every plan or payment method).

Difficulty: Online. Policies change. This is the path that usually works, not a substitute for your contract or the merchant’s current account screens.

Online

  1. 01On a browser, sign in and open Manage membership (from Account, or Netflix’s “Manage your membership” help link).
  2. 02Select Cancel, then under Cancel select Finish Cancellation. Save the confirmation email.
  3. 03In the mobile app, My Netflix → menu → Account (opens the site) → Manage membership → same Cancel / Finish Cancellation path.
  4. 04If there is no Cancel control, open Account → Membership and follow the partner instructions. Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Google Play: Payments & subscriptions. Roku: my.roku.com. A cable or wireless package: that provider’s add-ons page.
  5. 05If the account is on hold, Netflix says it closes immediately when you cancel.

Fees and traps

  • No typical prorated refund. You paid for the current period; you can use it until it ends.
  • Gift-card or promotional balance can keep the account running after cancel until that balance is used up.
  • Pause (where offered) is 1 month at a time, up to 3 months total, and is not available on every plan or payment method. Pause is not cancel.
  • If you are moving Netflix into a live-TV or carrier bundle, Netflix says to link the account to the package rather than cancel first, so billing switches. Search Netflix help for that package name.

FAQ

When do charges stop?

You are not charged again unless you restart. If time remains in the period, you watch until that date. Payment History shows when the account will close.

Why don’t I see Cancel?

A payment partner bills you. Cancel with Apple, Google, Roku, or the carrier listed under Membership.

Can someone in the house restart it?

Yes, with the password. Netflix suggests changing the password after cancel and signing out of all devices if you want to block a restart.
