How to cancel Audible

Audible’s help: unsubscribe from Account details on the Audible site. Deleting the app does not cancel. Desktop: username → Account details → Cancel membership, then Continue to cancel until the confirmation page. Mobile web: menu → your account → Cancel membership. If Apple or Google bills you, you cannot cancel on audible.com—use App Store or Google Play. After cancel you keep titles you already bought. Unused credits can be forfeited; Audible says you may be able to pause instead if you want to keep credits.

Difficulty: Online — website, not the app. Policies change. This is the path that usually works, not a substitute for your contract or the merchant’s current account screens.

What does not work

  • The Audible listening app (no complete cancel there for site-billed plans)
  • Deleting the app
  • Cancelling Amazon Prime and assuming Audible stops
  • Cancelling on audible.com when Apple or Google is the merchant on your statement

Online

  1. 01Check the statement: Audible/Amazon vs Apple vs Google.
  2. 02Site-billed: in a browser go to audible.com, select your username → Account details → Cancel membership. On a phone browser use the menu → account → Cancel membership.
  3. 03Keep selecting Continue to cancel until you see the confirmation page. Save the email. Account details should show the membership as cancelled.
  4. 04Apple billed: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Audible → Cancel Subscription.
  5. 05Google Play billed: Play Store → profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Audible → Cancel subscription.

Fees and traps

  • Credits: unused credits may expire or be lost when you cancel, depending on the plan. Audible points people with leftover credits toward pause if they qualify. Check the cancel and pause screens.
  • You keep audiobooks you purchased (including those bought with credits) after cancel, per Audible’s cancel article.
  • Annual vs monthly only changes when the paid access ends—usually the end of the period already paid.
